The California Clean Fuel Reward is designed to support the medium- and heavy-duty (Class 2b* to Class 8) commercial vehicle market by lowering the upfront price to purchase or lease eligible new commercial BEVs.
Funding Details
The Program Administrator plans to continue releasing funds beyond 2028.

Vehicle Eligibility
The California Clean Fuel Reward applies to the purchase or lease of new Class 2b* to Class 8 BEVs only.
Eligible
- BEVs
- Class 2b* to Class 8 (8,501–33,000+ lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating [GVWR])
- Purchased or leased new (7,500 miles or less, not previously owned or leased by a customer)
- For on-road commercial operations (to carry people, property, or hazardous materials)
Not Eligible
- Buses and vehicles not intended for on-road use (terminal tractors, yard spotters, etc.)
- BEVs with >7,500 miles
- Pre-owned BEVs (regardless of mileage)
- Hybrid, fuel cell, other alt-fuel, and Electric Power Take-Off (ePTO) vehicles; battery-electric motorcycles
